WSC Indoor Recreation Program

Winter Recreation

Players will have practices and 6 games that will take place over the course of 8 weeks.

Winter Session 2: U5-U8, Jan 3-Feb 25 - This session is underway! 

The primary objective for this youth recreation program is for young players to be active with an emphasis on fun, sportsmanship, and good play.  Sometimes a soccer ball is even involved!

Who

Any resident of Woodbury and surrounding communities is welcome to participate in the Indoor Recreation program.  Each program will have a maximum number of participants.  Once the maximum number has been reached the program registration will be closed.

Location

Bielenberg Sports Center - 4125 Radio Drive

Directions: From the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Radio Drive, take Radio Drive South to Bailey Road.  Go straight at the roundabout.  BSC, an ice arena/domed soccer field multi-sport complex, is on the left.

The Field House (dome) is heated to 45 F.  That can be chilly for spectators, dress appropriately.

Practice/Game Apparel + Ball and Water Bottle

The Winter (and Summer) Rec programs only provide t-shirts as a cost-saving measure.  Team t-shirts should be worn for games and picture day.  Shin guards and soccer socks worn over the shin guards are mandatory, sock color is unimportant.  Shorts or running pants can be left to the discretion of families.  Shoes are also left to the discretion of families.  Players may wear gym shoes, outdoor soccer cleats or indoor soccer cleats.  Bring extra clothing on cold days, the dome will be chilly.

Players should bring their own ball (U5-8 Size 3, U9-10 Size 4) and a water bottle.

You might chuckle at this video but ask open ended questions of your child about their soccer experience and it will be very revealing.

Ask questions like:

  • Did you have fun?
  • What did you like?
  • What did you do?

Many of our children will not view their experience the same way we do so ask questions that let your child talk about what just happened and share in their excitement.
