Week 6

Keys to keep in mind for the beginning GK:
 1. Forward position
 2. Body behind ball
 3. Hands on top
 4. Light on feet be on your toes BALLS of FEET (please note that the RSL keeper asks you to be on your toes and this is conflict with the IMG which states you should be on the balls of your feet for our training today we need to stress being on the BALLS of your FEET!)

In regards to distribution that you should address items:
GK Kicks:
  • Take them as quickly as possible to a player in the wide channel. (This is the space between the box and the touchline)
  • This short GK will get the ball rolling and get the ball out wide of goal
  • If a big GKick is taken encourage the player taking it to hit it out into the wide channel not int the center of the field
  • Get entire team to compact to the side the GKick should be hit

Distribution (Bowling, throwing, punting):
  • Top of the box and wide as quickly as possible (make sure to create 2 mini boxes while you play today so players have a box to play out of)
  • Encourage playing the ball into the wide channels
  • Choose distribution that will connect the easiest and that the player is confident with
  • The easiest for their teammates to receive in order will be the bowl, the throw, the punt
